Initial Consultation with Professor Semih Keskil
The process begins with a comprehensive clinical consultation. Skeletal maturity, progression history, curve pattern, and individual biomechanical characteristics are evaluated together to establish an evidence-based clinical profile.
Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation
Patients undergo a detailed diagnostic assessment that may include MRI and CT imaging of the entire spine and QCT, full-spine scoliosis radiographs, dynamic imaging studies, and Cobb angle measurements with EOS. Final eligibility can only be determined following completion of these studies.
Although uncommon, findings from this stage may show a patient is not an appropriate candidate. In such cases, all imaging and reports are provided to the family, and Professor Keskil personally reviews the findings and discusses available options.
Final Review and Procedural Preparation
All required consultations are completed, and informed consent documentation is reviewed and finalized. Families have the opportunity to ask any remaining questions before proceeding.
The PAMO Procedure
For patients considered appropriate candidates, the procedure is performed in an operating-room environment under real-time C-arm imaging guidance, without surgical incisions, stitches, or general anesthesia — at our affiliated hospital, TOBB ETÜ Faculty of Medicine Hospital. The procedure typically takes approximately one hour, and patients return to their hotel the same day.
Follow-Up Consultation and Return Home
Before departure, patients and families meet with Professor Keskil to review the procedure, discuss follow-up recommendations, and receive guidance regarding the next stages of care.
Patient Follow-Up
- Initial changes are commonly observed within the first two weeks
- Maximum observed changes are typically seen within the first month
- A remote follow-up assessment is generally conducted at approximately four months
- Some patients may benefit from an additional procedural course based on follow-up findings
- All future planning is individualized, with transparent communication throughout every stage of care
